happy birthday Paul!

Paul Scholes Wallpaper
Downloaded from ManUtd.com - Fanzone

I am a ManU fan since 1996, and one of the players that has been this whole time is the great and unique Paul Scholes. Today is Paul's birthday... and i recalled one of his top goals, against Barcelona at Old Trafford, for the UCL 2007-2008. That night, the United won thanks to his goal, and then faced Chelsea in the final... with another heart-attacking result.

Paul, the football thanks ur existance.
God save Paul Scholes.

As part of the celebrations for the anniversary of Moquegua, Torata district community organized the "Festival of Damascus" in the Plaza de Armas (Main Square), and aware of the event ... I went :) I was accompanied by Consuelo, whom joined me to Miss Moquegua the night before (comments on this event requires a whole separate post).

Consuelo, gracias por la compañía :)It was very nice to go to Torata for the Festival of Damascus. Some things to remember is that was veeery hoy, on the walk to Christ (viewpoint) we used, like water bottles, 500 mL bottles full of burgundy wine, the Christ statue had an interesting detail on its feet, I'll post it later ... and obvious, the tasting of apricots (I was eager to try more!). I'm up to see more of Moquegua :)

One of the things that has costed me the most to adapt here is the "attention schedule" (any suggestion to improve this concept?). In all the jobs i had i only had 1 hour to have lunch (but the ones in the US, where i only got 30 min... NO to the yankee imperialism!!), and at that time i could go to the bank or some other office i may need to attend, but here even the restaurants and shandwich shops close! Well, we just need to understand their logic: this businesses are attented by people who need to have lunch on their own, so they close at lunch time.

Hi! we left the action right after the 1st chapter of this trip i made some months ago, motivated by my friend Miri, now here i continue and give some data that can b useful. Enjoy!

Part II: Ilo - Cusco - Machu Picchu - Puno

The ride from Ilo to Cusco was interesting... you can check more about it on the previous link (or you can click here). The idea was to get to Cusco, then to Machu Picchu and then finish with Puno... and we did make it to Machu Picchu, as i already posted before. I have to say here that Puno is freaking cold... my friend Miri, who comes from Cedar City UT, USA was freezing there and it is common to have snow in her city while winter (temperature reaches -20°C in an average night)... we spent 3 nights in Puno and 2 in Cusco, but it would had been better to change that rate.

i may say something about the total money i used... but i really don't want to get depressed, even when i think it turned out to be way cheaper than a typical and touristic trip. We couldn't spend more days travelling due to my job, but i could got at least 1, spending more days at Cusco would had been great (and kinda expensive), there is soooo much to see there!!!

Buses were not hard to schedule, but 'finding cheap places to eat': yes. With a complete backpacker behavior this could had been different :P anyway, it was a great trip full of anecdotes and interesting perceptions about the reality we peruvians live in. I can say... if we want to be a touristic country... we need a lot of education and work; nice places aren't enough for a complete and satisfactory experience.

So... here some pics :D y bueno... aquí algunas fotos

Pachacutec Monument, Cusco

after those 2 routes i came back to Ilo, where i am living now.
¿qué sigue... la selva?
what comes next... jungle? :P
veremos...
we'll see :)
